When I moved back home the house felt strange. Of course it didn't help that I was stressed & unorganized. I've always had a hard time with my kitchen/living room setup, but I was hating it even more & couldn't figure out why (maybe because I had a taste of an open floor plan in fayetteville) I finally decided I needed a change. But what can you do with little $ yet will still make a big impact?
Here's what I did- I moved the table.
It had been pushed to one side of the kitchen against the piano (that's a story for another day) & we were only utilizing three sides. So I pulled it away from the piano, and centered it with the back doors and it has made all the difference! The energy in the kitchen has changed. I'm more willing to actually cook things & be happy about it. I am a complete believer in Feng Shui. Plus it makes me actually clean it off because now when you walk into the front door you look straight at it. But don't look too close I still haven't figured out what's going to help me change my desire to sweep & mop.
and to add a little extra energy to the place I added some much needed color
Last month, when there was still snow on the ground I decided I'd better take Niels out to get his first real taste of snow. Poor kid was just excited to get out of the house. His first order of business was to loose the gloves Testing the snow for avalanche danger
Then he figured out he could pick it up and throw it. Which started a cycle...
...throw snow, feel the cold, whine about it a little, mom wipes off hands, pick up snow, throw it, repeat 20 more times.
We were at this a while until he remembered there was a park & made a break for it. I wasn't about to shove snow clothes into a baby swing so I steered him back home & towards a nap.
Kelly McCaleb always is so inspiring. And I just absolutely love her new post. Going to the park, eating bread and fresh fruit for dinner and getting "drenched in golden light". What a great post to get us through a few more weeks of blah. After seeing this new post I'm setting a new goal for myself to make a quilt before summer hits so my mini's and I can have dinner in the park too.
Shame on you Mr. President. Shame on you for signing this "stimulus" bill, for lying about there being no earmarks (PORK), & for shoving it down our throats & not allowing enough time for anyone to actually read it. And shame on you for pushing this nation further down the path towards socialism.
Things are slipping through the cracks. I'm not sure how I missed this one. Oh yeah because they cancelled the press conference. Did you know that three days into office Pres. Obama reversed a ban on funding foreign aid groups that promote & perform abortions? (why not get your house in order first before making any rash decisions) I'm not sure I'm too shocked about it considering his stance on the whole thing- remember?
Mr. Obama said the policy had "undermined efforts to promote safe and effective voluntary family planning in developing countries," and vowed to find common ground with his pro-life adversaries. [yeah uh huh]
"While he bans torture on terrorists he's now forcing taxpayers to export abortions, a procedure that destroys the lives of unborn children," Mr. Perkins [Family Research Council (FRC) President] said. [yes lets not hurt the bloodthirsty crazy killers but those babies have got to go]
And late Thursday, the Washington Blade, a paper focused on gay issues, reported that Mr. Obama will ask Mark Dybul, the coordinator of President Bush's program to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa, to resign. Liberal groups, the Blade said, are concerned that Mr. Dybul, who is gay, would maintain Bush-era conditions that aid money go to groups who promote sexual abstinence as part of HIV prevention. [not sexual abstinence-ahhhhhh!!! that won't stop you from getting HIV which is most commonly transmitted by having sex]
Hey Pres. Obama- don't use my money to fund abortions!!!!!!!
Yuck! I'm feeling the winter doldrums that everyone has been talking about. Normally I love winter and am sad to see it go but this year I'm sooooo ready for spring. I can't wait to get started on my new square foot garden & hoping my husband won't think I'm too crazy for wanting a couple chickens (shhhhh don't tell the HOA)photo by Crowhand found on flickr- I'm really liking his stuff & I want to live where he lives
As if the doldrums weren't enough, for the past week I haven't been 100% or even 50%. My stomach has been uneasy. I don't think it's the flu but whatever it is I know if I could just throw up I'd feel a whole heck of a lot better.
And thanks so much to my sis Nic for helping me out and taking the kids & listening to my crazy talk- You are AMAZING!!!
I'm not sure if it's because of the sickness that I'm not able to sleep but lately (if you've noticed the time stamp on my latest posts) my new bedtime is 3 a.m. It bites. I'm not much of a morning person anyway but this just makes it ten times worse. So I've been trying to pass the time at night & do something to make me sleep. After reading all the books in my house (okay most of the books) I decided to make a hat for Lils. When she saw my hook & the yarn she asked me if I was "yarning" something and if that something was for her. I told her it was and she was excited until she realized the color was not her cup of tea.
It's supposed to be a slouchy beret but it didn't work out as well as I thought. She's not too fond of it so I'll probably take it apart and make it again and then who knows maybe sell it. Anyone want to buy a super cute slouchy beanie for a 4-6 yr old? Lucky for her I've already started on a new one in a super soft, much too expensive for a 4 yr old, navy blue yarn.
see how much she's loving it?
And because I know you all love my political commentary I'll leave a link to an article I found interesting about Pres. Obama's choice in town for his rally. Looking at the big picture is a lot more interesting.
it's just spelled differently. Aren't these so super cute! The peep toe is to die for. These are the "Jennae" from the spring line of See Kai Run. But I'm so mad, they are in the little girl section so the largest size is one size too small for Lily- rats! Maybe I'll just buy some in a smaller size and wait for my next little girl to come along. bytheway: to celebrate their new spring/summer collection they are giving away a free pair of shoes everyday for the month of February see rules and enter Here
